Postdoctoral Fellow Center for Quantum Materials Engineering
Since Oct 2019 Viet-Anh Ha has been at the University of Texas at Austin as a Postdoctoral researcher in the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. Research topic: Perovskites materials for optoelectronics. In Oct. 2014 to May 2019 he was at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium as a Ph.D., and at the Sciences de l'ingénieur et technologie, Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences. His thesis title was High throughput computing for high performance p-type Transparent Conducting Materials (TCMs). In Sep. 2012 to Sep. 2014 he went to the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Vietnam and earned his M.Sc. in Engineering Physics. Thesis title: Monte Carlo study of the room-temperature ferromagnetism of diluted magnetic semiconductors.
His research interests include Perovskites materials for optoelectronics. Perovskite is a well-known family of materials which are keys for many modern technologies and applications from electronics, photonics, multiferroics to catalyst. In this project, the goal is to design novel perovskites with exceptional properties for optoelectronics. Using Density Functional Theory (DFT), Viet-Anh will perform quantum calculations for a large number of potential perovskites and then find out the most promising candidates.
